DIMAPUR — A 14-day exhibition of handicraft and handloom products of Nagaland at Nagaland Pavilion, Hall No-3 at Bharat Mandapam (Pragati Maidan), New Delhi at the ongoing India International Trade Fair (IITF), was inaugurated by Akali V Konghay, Joint Secretary and Legislative Counsel, Ministry of Law and Justice, Govt. of India, on November 14.

In a press release, the pavilion director of Nagaland Pavilion informed that officials from Thailand Pavilion and Manipur Pavilion also attended the inaugural function.

Twenty artisans including Padma Shri awardee Neihunuo Sorhie and many other prominent artisans are taking part in the exhibition, which will conclude on November 27.

Interacting with the artisans, the chief guest appreciated the creative handiworks and said that “our rich heritage and culture are embedded in our varied handicraft.”

Konghay encouraged all the participants to preserve and showcase their rich and vibrant handloom and handicraft through various exhibitions. She also appreciated the initiative of the Govt. of Nagaland for giving a platform to the artisans to showcase their products.

Nagaland Pavilion director, K Francis Hekavi also lauded the participants for their co-ordination with the department and emphasised that not only the products displayed and sold but also the courtesy shown to the visitors will highlight the image of Nagaland.
