Governor urges to draw inspiration from Guru Nanak’s teachings
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, on Friday said the teachings of the revered first Guru of Sikhism has left an indelible mark that transcend barriers of faith, creed and nationality and added that his universal message of love, equality and service continues to inspire millions around the globe.
He stated this the occasion of 555th Guru Nanak birth anniversary celebration at Gurudwara Sri Singh Sabha in Dimapur. He said Guru Nanak’s philosophy of ‘Ik Onkar’—the belief in one God, recognises the divine presence in all of humanity. He added that his teachings urged towards a society founded on justice, tolerance and harmony, paving the way for peace and unity in diverse world, an update from Raj Bhavan stated.
“By aligning societal structures with Guru Nanak’s principles, a more equitable, peaceful and sustainable world can emerge. Such a foundation not only enriches individual lives but also strengthens communities globally, creating an interconnected, compassionate human society,” Ganesan said.
The governor stated that Guru Nanak’s teachings, in essence, provided an eternal framework for building societies committed to justice, peace and unity, echoing louder than ever in an era punctuated by both extraordinary potential and profound challenges.
While remembering the profound wisdom of Guru Nanak, the governor acknowledged the exemplary contributions of the Sikh community across India and in Nagaland.
He said the Sikhs have consistently shown a remarkable spirit of enterprise, service and sacrifice, adding they have been instrumental in nurturing India’s cultural, technological and agricultural growth.
“Sikh soldiers and citizens have bravely defended our nation and contributed significantly to national security. Their courage and dedication are sources of inspiration for all Indians,” he added.
The governor stated that in Nagaland, the Sikh community has seamlessly integrated to the cultural and economic ecosystem of the state and have contributed actively and vibrantly to the state’s development. Besides, he stated that their Gurdwaras, serving as community centres, are not just places of worship but symbols of unity and service where everyone is welcome with open arms.
He further called upon all to continue to draw inspiration from Guru Nanak’s teachings by reaffirming commitment to fostering a world rooted in love and mutual respect, fulfilling the higher ideals of selfless service to humanity.
