Northeast Zone Football Tournament: Four universities secure qualifying spots

DIMAPUR — On the second day of the ongoing Northeast Zone (Men’s) Football Tournament at Nagaland University, four teams—Sikkim Manipal University, Mizoram University, Dibrugarh University, and Nagaland University—secured spots in the qualifying round.

According to an update, the day began with a match between USTM Meghalaya and Sikkim Manipal University, which ended in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular time. Team Sikkim emerged victorious in the shootout, winning 4-2.

The second match saw Mizoram University take on Guwahati University. Mizoram wasted no time, with Lalbiakmana scoring the opening goal in the first half. They continued their dominant play, eventually defeating Guwahati 6-0.

In the third match, Dibrugarh University faced Tripura University. Dibrugarh took the lead in the first half with a goal from Tabash N. Saikia. They maintained their advantage in the second half, securing a 3-1 victory over Tripura.

The final match of the day featured Nagaland University (NU) against Royal Global University. NU dominated the game, winning 6-2. The opening goal came from Satminlal Haolai, and NU continued to press their advantage, ultimately securing a comfortable victory.
