Online quiz competition for schools held in Tseminyu
DIMAPUR — District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Chiechama, in collaboration with the Sub-Divisional Educational Officer (SDEO), Tseminyu, conducted an online quiz competition on Tuesday at EBRC Hall in Tseminyu town.
Kerüpfü Rüpreo, additional director of SCERT and special guest of the programme, has acknowledged the role of stakeholders in the teaching-learning process with mutual cooperation and support. She motivated the students to reap the full advantage of the digital world stating that “one should control the technology rather than letting technology to dominate.”
She disclosed that SCERT Nagaland is in the process of digitising the school textbooks in the DIKSHA portal, whereby students could access the digital forms of textbooks through their smart phones or laptops. This in return, she said, would reduce the burden of heavy school bags carried by the students.
Delivering the keynote address, Achile Thong, principal of DIET Chiechama, stated that online quiz competition was meant for the adults in order build their knowledge and skills. She encouraged the students to enhance their learning and critical skills through the provided platform to achieve greater success not only in the district but also at the state and national levels.
It mentioned that the main objective of conducting the online quiz competition was to enhance general knowledge and specific subject understanding among the class-8 students of both government and private schools in Tseminyu district.
Altogether, 11 schools comprising 5 private schools such as DBS Tesophenyu, AG School Tseminyu, BHSS Tseminyu, DBS Tseminyu and Christian School Tseminyu and 6 government schools namely GHS Kandinu, GHS Tseminyu New Town, GHSS Tseminyu, GHS Kasha, GHS Sendenyu and GMS Tsosinyu participated in the online quiz competition.
In the Maths and Science round, Akvulo Tep from DBS Tseminyu won the first position, while Gwasenle Kent and Yhunkenye Kemp both from Christian School Tseminyu won the second and third positions respectively.
In the English and Social Sciences round, Caroline Rengma from BHSS Tseminyu won the first position, while Lydia Apon from GHS Kandinu and Akvulo Tep from DBS Tseminyu won the second and third positions respectively.
Francis Magh,ToT at EBRC Tseminyu, chaired the programme, while Asao Seb, SDEO and in-charge of DEO Tseminyu, delivered the welcome address. Kenyiihile Kent, senior lecturer at DIET, Chiechama, and Alemsongla Jamir, lecturer at DIET Chiechama, moderated the session as the quiz masters.
