Kenguruse tournament: Dynamo FC, Head Hunters FC reach semi-finals

KOHIMA — The sixth match-day of the Captain N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, saw thrilling action as teams battled fiercely for a spot in the semi-finals.

On Friday, Dynamo FC advanced after a dramatic penalty shootout against Lengreng FC, while Head Hunters FC displayed dominant form to overpower Western Sumi SA.

In the first match, Dynamo FC and Lengreng FC played to a 0-0 draw in regular time, sending the game into penalties. Dynamo FC won 5-4 in the shootout, with successful penalties from Mezi, Longo, Ato, Sunep, Maijoi, and Relitong.

Lengreng FC’s penalty takers Wikedatlu, Suraibo, Ngansang, Namsi, Kawijibo, and Nsamlungbe all converted, but it was Dynamo FC who emerged victorious to advance to the semi-finals, where they will face Mez & Co FC on November 11.

In the second match, Head Hunters FC bounced back from an early goal by Western Sumi SA’s Thulunso in the 5th minute. Head Hunters equalised with two quick goals from Visieto in the 10th and 13th minutes. Thanglenhao added another in the 56th minute, and Winamthiu sealed the 4-1 win in the 67th minute, sending Head Hunters FC to the next stage.

The next match is scheduled for, November 9, (Saturday) at 10 am, featuring Maverick FC against Halcyon United.
