DC Kiphire launches Jal Utsav programme

DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner of Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, on Wednesday launched Jal Utsav programme as the special guest held at DPDB Hall in Kiphire town.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Longkumer said that Jal Utsav is being implemented in 20 Aspirational district/ blocks in the states in partnership with National Jal Jeevan Mission under Development of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, to create awareness and sensitise towards water management, conservation and sustainability.

Quoting ‘Little drop of water makes a mighty ocean,’ Longkumer said that community participation and protection of water resources are very important. He added that activities like water asset cleaning, trees plantation, students led awareness programmes and community pledges to inspire responsible water use and conservation would also be initiated.

The Water Resources and Public Health Engineering departments made presentation their works during the programme.

The programme was moderated by Sukanya, ABF NITI Aayog, while Lemtsu L Tikhir, youth pastor of TBCKT, invoked God’s blessings.

The executive engineer of PHED, Akokba Sair delivered the welcome address, while Tethuvo spoke on the success story of JJM, and how the public have benefited from the scheme so far.

Longdiba L Sangtam, ADC (HQ), administered the oath taking pledge and the vote of thanks was delivered by Takatemjen Pongen, EAC (HQ).

The programme was attended by Nyayaipam A Shimray, state young professional, Nagaland.
