Kenguruse tourney: Western Sumi SA and Dynamo FC progress to next round

KOHIMA — Western Sumi SA and Dynamo FC advanced to the next round of Capt. N Kenguruse MVC Memorial Football Tournament on Monday.

In the first match, Western Sumi SA edged past Vanguard Academy in a closely contested match that ended 2-1 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

Kakhevi scored the opening goal for Western Sumi SA in the 10th minute only to be equalised by Khiti Kath of Vanguard Academy in the 26th minute. The deadlock persisted until the closing stages when Thulunso scored the deciding goal of the match in the 85th minute.

In the second match, the Dynamo FC dominated Viswemi FC with a commanding 3-0 victory.

Sunep set the tone early, converting a penalty in the 9th minute. The second half saw Dynamo FC emerging as winners with Ato and Nyathang striking a goal each.

Dynamo FC’s has so far maintained their clean sheet as they advance to the next round.

Tuesday’s matches

First match – Sports Society Soyim FC Vs Velocity Vipers FC (10 am)

Second match – Halcyon United Vs King Hornet FC (2 pm)
