Wokha Police install traffic blinkers to enhance road safety
WOKHA — To enhance road safety, the Wokha Police, known as “Tiyi Guardians Wokha,” have installed traffic blinkers at various locations throughout Wokha district. This initiative aims to reduce accidents and improve overall traffic management.
Additional Superintendent of Police K Soriso Quinker, who is also the PRO, stated that the blinkers have been installed in accident-prone areas, including diverging points, unmarked intersections, turns, and blind spots.
He explained that this modern approach acts as a basic alternative to speed breakers by signalling drivers to reduce their speed and proceed with caution at junctions.
Quinker highlighted that a total of ten traffic blinkers have been installed: two in Bhandari, one in Chukitong, one in Sanis, and six in Wokha town. He added that these installations not only enhance safety but also contribute to the town’s aesthetic appeal, aligning with the vision of transforming Wokha into a smart city.
He further informed that the initiative was entirely funded by Wokha DEF.
