St. Joseph School Chümoukedima celebrates cultural day
DIMAPUR — St. Joseph Higher Secondary School (SJHSS), Chümoukedima, celebrated its cultural day on Friday with Razouvotuo Chatsu, advisor, Angami Public Organisation as the special guests.
According to an update, the highlight of the event was a cultural dance competition among the Ao, Konyak, Yimkhiung, Chakhesang, Angami, Sumi, Sangtam, Kuki, Nepali and Lotha communities.
Lotha troupe won the first position followed by Sangtam and Sumi cultural troupes in the first and second runners-up positions, respectively.
Cash prize of INR 20,000, INR 15,000 and INR 10,000 was handed to the first three winners, respectively, while all the participating troupes also received INR 3000 each as consolation prize.
Other than the cultural dance competition, some of the cultural items presented were special dance fusion, folk song and Adivasi dance.
The special guest appreciated the school management for organising the cultural day where one can proudly show the importance of one’s own culture and identity.
Earlier, call of grace was led by Rev. Sr. Maria Goretti Shadap, headmistress of SJHSS and words of welcome was delivered by Rev. Fr. Anthony R Dukru, principal SJHSS.
The programme, chaired by Loli Lawrence and Elizabeth Richa, concluded with a vote of thanks by Ithitoli Awomi.
