Dimapur District Inter Club Badminton Tournament kicks off
DIMAPUR — The 7th edition of the Dimapur District Inter Club Badminton Tournament commenced on Thursday under the aegis of the Dimapur District Badminton Association, hosted by the Dimapur Badminton Club at the DBC Indoor Stadium on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion as the special guest, Namheu Khate, Executive Engineer of the Transmission Division, Kohima, expressed that the increasing number of people playing video and mobile games has made it more challenging for any new game to succeed in the market.
He added that badminton is a beautiful game and emphasised the importance of playing, loving the game, and growing together.
While delivering the welcome speech, the president of the Dimapur Badminton Club, George Thira, lauded the club for hosting the tournament.
He stated that the event provided a wonderful opportunity for people from diverse backgrounds, age groups, and walks of life to come together, participate, and get to know each other better, fostering closer fellowship among all.
He stated that people often say “health is wealth” because the true value of health is not fully appreciated until illness strikes, and added that time spent nurturing one’s health in this world is not wasted, but rather time well spent.
He also encouraged the gathering to continue promoting one another through this game and to foster better health and stronger friendships among themselves.
The tournament will feature a total of six clubs, with 156 players participating. All matches will be men’s doubles only in the categories of 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, and 60+.
