Assam Rifles celebrates National Unity Day in Pungro

DIMAPUR — Commemorating ‘National Unity Day,’ the Assam Rifles on Thursday organised a programme in Pungro under Kiphire district, which was attended by representatives from Nagaland Police, Village Guards, teachers and village elders (GB).

An update from Assam Rifles stated that the gathering highlighted the importance of unity in nation-building with participants symbolically holding hands, representing their collective commitment to fostering peace, harmony and development.

As part of the programme, Assam Rifles conducted an insightful lecture on the importance of ‘National Unity Day’ especially for the youth by emphasising how unity strengthens the nation.

Additionally, a drawing competition and a lecture were organised at Government High School, Pungro, where students learned about the historical significance of ‘National Unity Day’ and the pivotal role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in uniting India.

The event concluded with all attendees taking a unity pledge, reinforcing their shared dedication to national integrity.

It stated that the initiative by Assam Rifles exemplified the force’s dedication to fostering peace, harmony and national integration in the region.
