NSCU conducts capacity building for PACS

KOHIMA — The Nagaland State Cooperative Union (NSCU) on Tuesday conducted one-day training on capacity building for chairmen and secretaries of Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) at Red Cross Building in Kohima.

Addressing the gathering as the special guest, NSCU president Kedoutsolhi Wetsah said that the programme was the first of its kind in Nagaland organised by NSCU, Dimapur.

NSCU, which was started in the year 1967, is an apex non trading cooperative education imparting trainings to organisations representing the entire Nagaland cooperative movement under the sponsorship of the state cooperation.

He stated that NSCU was established to impart new basic cooperative education, training and information to members and board of directors.

“In view of changing economic environment, constant review of cooperative education and training is a must to make all sectors of cooperatives more efficient and effective to compete with private sectors in a befitting manner,” Wetsah said.

Some of the objective of NSCU included promotion and development of cooperative movement in the state, educate and assist the people in their efforts to build up and expand the cooperative sectors, impart training on all matters pertaining to cooperative education, develop inter cooperative relationship and help in coordinate functioning of the cooperative movement in various sectors, convene and conduct state level seminars, conferences, exhibitions. publishing of literatures, periodical, pamphlets etc on cooperation and to organise and impart continuous education training and information to members.

The speakers of the programme included Bharati Chhinal, DRCS, RCS office Kohima; Imnanukshi, CEO, NSCU, Dimapur; and Imtimendang, SRCS, RCS Office Kohima.

They spoke on ‘Management of the cooperation societies,’  ‘Book keeping on of cooperative societies’ and ‘Leadership development in cooperatives’ respectively.

The inaugural programme was chaired by the CEO of NSCU, Imnanukshi, asnd the vote of thanks was delivered by NSCU secretary, Mohokiya Apon.
