State-level UIDIC meeting for 2024 held in Kohima
DIMAPUR — The State-Level Unique Identification Implementation Committee (UIDIC) meeting for 2024 was held in Kohima on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Nagaland Chief Secretary Dr. Jan E Alam.
The meeting saw participation from senior officials of the UIDAI, including Commodore Dhiraj Sareen, Deputy Director General of the UIDAI Regional Office in Guwahati, and Colonel Abhishek Koushik, Director of the UIDAI Guwahati office, alongside departmental heads of the Nagaland government, according to a DIPR report.
On the occasion, Colonel Abhishek Koushik delivered a presentation detailing the progress of Aadhaar enrolment, updates, and usage in Nagaland. He also presented an action-taken report based on points from the previous meeting and updates from the quarterly district-level meetings.
Key issues discussed included improving Aadhaar saturation, ensuring the enrolment of newborns through the Birth Registration Based Aadhaar Enrolment (BRBAE) process, and addressing the backlog of mandatory biometric updates for children aged 5 to 7 and 15 to 17.
During the meeting, Sareen stressed the importance of raising Aadhaar enrolment levels to align with the national average. He proposed focusing on districts with lower Aadhaar saturation and emphasised the need to prioritise the enrolment of newborns using the BRBAE system.
Concluding the meeting, the chief secretary directed the departmental heads to collaborate with the UIDAI Regional Office in Guwahati to develop a plan aimed at achieving these targets within a stipulated timeframe, ensuring Nagaland meets the national average for Aadhaar saturation.
