DIMAPUR — Additional deputy commissioner, Zunheboto, and executive officer, Zunheboto Town Council, Keyirangding Hegui, notified new vehicle parking regulations aimed at improving traffic management and ensuring the convenience of commuters.

According to a DIPR report, this initiative aims to ensure proper upkeep of parking lots and avoid inconveniences for commuters and pedestrians alike.

Under the commercial vehicle parking area, local taxis will be stationed at BOC (hospital junction), Daily Market, old taxi parking (opposite HKY building), and Mokokchung Road, below the SBI Bazaar branch.

Bolero pickups and Tata mobiles will be parked at KL Chishi junction/Lapato. Mini trucks can be found at the Old Gas Agency on Mokokchung Road, Old Town Ward.

For outward bound passenger LMVs and MMVs, parking is designated at the Daily Market Complex (serving Aghunato, Satakha, Kohima, and Dimapur) and below the Old Mount Ford School on Mokokchung Road in New Colony (for Akuluto, Suruhuto, Atoizu, VK, and Mokokchung).

Heavy motor vehicles will be parked on Mokokchung Road, specifically in the Laghilato Ward (landslide area). Network Travels and NST vehicles will park below the District Education Office building (for Network Travels) and near Axis Bank (for NST) after 4:00 pm and before 7:30 am.

In the private vehicle parking area, four-wheelers can park in the BOC area (from Woodland School gate to Jio office area) with left-side parking only. Additionally, vehicles can park on the right side from KL Chishi/Lapato junction to the NCRC area, with left-side parking from NCRC to the Daily Market point and from the Daily Market to the DC office junction.

Both sides are available for parking from the DC office junction to Centenary Gate. Parking is also permitted from Centenary Gate to Taxi Point 3/ZTCM Parking. Lastly, there is left-side parking available from the New Colony main drain area to the Mokokchung Sumo counter.

For two-wheelers, parking is designated at the NPF office junction area (opposite SBI Main branch) and in the Alahuto Gate area.

Furthermore, a vehicle parking fee (flat rate) of INR 20 for four-wheelers and INR 10 for two-wheelers will be levied per day on all days (excluding Sundays) for all categories of motor vehicles, except for government-registered vehicles, at the aforementioned locations within the Zunheboto Town Council jurisdiction, effective from November 1, 2024.

A special vehicle parking permit can be obtained upon payment of INR 200 per month for a regular parking space (identified).

Specific areas have also been designated as no parking zones. These include the stretch from Alahuto Gate to the SDO (Electrical) office, from Alahuto Police Point to Dr. Bohovi Clinic, and within Mokokchung Road, specifically from opposite the taxi parking until the Old Gas Agency in New Colony.
