DIMAPUR — The Konyak Union (KU) has called upon the government of Nagaland to prioritise and expedite construction of the long-delayed Foothill Road project.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the union emphasised the project’s significance in improving connectivity and promoting regional development. “Recognising the vital importance of this project in improving connectivity and promoting regional development, we once again urge the government to initiate construction from the Tizit point at the earliest possible date,” it stated.

The KU also urged the state government to “allocate contract work only to those contractors deemed fully capable and efficient to carry out the construction,” stating that the selection of capable contractors is vital for maintaining quality and ensuring timely completion of this significant project.

Furthermore, the KU requested that “all organisations, groups, or contractors refrain from any interference that may hinder or delay the tendering process or the progress of the project within Konyak’s jurisdiction.”

Reiterating its commitment to supporting the project’s swift execution, it expressed hope that the state government would take swift action to make the Foothill Road a reality, starting with the Tizit segment.
