Skill Fest 2024 underway at Oriental College
Glimpses of the inaugural day of the three-day 6th Skill Fest 2024 at Oriental College, Kohima on Monday.

DIMAPUR — Oriental College, Kohima, kick started its three-day 6th Skill Fest 2024 with Dr. Riku Khutso, EAC Kohima as the special guest for the inaugural function.

In his address, Khutso highlighted the importance of various skills, distinguishing between soft and hard skills essential for career development, an update stated.

He emphasised that society is broadly categorised into unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly-skilled professionals.

The EAC commended the college’s initiatives, noting that while students may not fully realise the significance of such events now, they will undoubtedly benefit from them in the future.

He further encouraged students to explore the wide range of career options available, urging them to consider opportunities beyond traditional government sectors.

The different trades the students will be trained in over the three days are mushroom cultivation, basket making,  bamboo works, carpentry, electrical fittings, beauty and wellness,  embroidery,  knitting and weaving, baking and coffee making.

Earlier, Dr. Khriereizhünuo Dzüvichü, principal of Oriental College, Kohima delivered the keynote address. The programme was chaired by Gwasole Tep, assistant professor, Dept. of History.
