NYK Zunheboto organises tree plantation drive

DIMAPUR — Under the Ek Ped Maa ke Naam initiative, the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Zunheboto, organised a tree plantation drive at Zunheboto Government College (ZGC) on October 25.

The event, which was attended by SDO  of Zunheboto, Sukhalu Chishi, as the special guest, witnessed active participation from the students and faculty, an update stated.

After administering the pledge to the guests and participants, the special guest, in his address, stressed on protection of the environment and said that the plantation drive is a great initiative towards safeguarding the environment.

Zakato L Zhimo, NYKS Zunheboto, spoke about the importance of planting as many trees as possible to make the environment greener. He also urged the students to plant at least one tree in their own name and to encourage others to do likewise.

The vice principal of ZGC, Jekugha Sema, thanked NYK Zunheboto for choosing the college for carrying out the programme. He spoke about the importance of having such programmes and guiding the students towards knowing the importance of protecting nature.

The programme concluded with mass plantation drive along at the college campus. Around 100 saplings were planted during the drive, it stated.
