DIMAPUR — An entrepreneurship development programme (EDP) was organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC), Sao Chang College, Tuensang.

According to an update, the programme was a continuation of the project titled “Establish, develop and manage EDC and incubation centres in educational institutes of the North Eastern region.”

The project was sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong, with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, serving as the nodal agency.

The first batch of the EDP was conducted from October 8 to 12, with a total of 10 participants.

On the inaugural day, Dr. T. Lal Veda Chandra Kumar, vice principal of Sao Chang College, encouraged participants in the programme, while A. Chubasangla Chang, coordinator of the college’s EDC, provided an introduction to the programme, followed by the technical sessions.

The second and third batches were held from October 14 to 18 and October 21 to 25, respectively, with the same resource persons engaging with another 20 participants across the batches.

The three-week EDPs featured eminent and experienced resource persons from various fields, including a veterinary doctor, a successful local entrepreneur, an advocate, a lecturer, and assistant professors.

During the EDP, resource persons conducted sessions on topics including business proposals, leadership and management, marketing and sales, starting a livestock farm, pitching and presentation skills, legal and regulatory aspects of business, networking and relationship building, social responsibility and ethics, technology infusion in entrepreneurship, and intellectual property rights.

The participants were selected based on the business proposals submitted during the first entrepreneurship awareness programme (EAP) conducted by the EDC, Sao Chang College, in August this year.

These 30 participants will undergo another screening process, after which a few will be selected and sent to the incubation centre for further evaluation. Ultimately, some participants will receive a seed fund of INR 5 lakhs for their entrepreneurial ventures.
