WOKHA — A coordination meeting was held by Wokha Town Lakhuti Ekhung (WTLE) and the Village Council of Lakhuti on Saturday at Lotha Hoho Ki, Wokha.

The meeting was attended by Dimapur Lakhuti Ekhung, Chümoukedima Lakhuti Ekhung, Kohima Lakhuti Ekhung, Lakhuti Officer Forum, Lakhuti Students’ Union, Bhandari Lakhuti Ekhung, and Baghty Lakhuti Ekhung, along with senior members from the village.

During the meeting, Mhathung Yanthan, MLA and Advisor for Agriculture, highlighted that Lakhuti village is a historical village with significant social and political contributions, including strengthening the Naga political struggle.

He encouraged the gathering to give due importance and respect to their village and to cultivate a sense of responsibility and belonging.

Speaking on sustainable development, Yanthan urged the villagers to take advantage of government programmes and schemes and to focus on cultivation, reminding them to be producers rather than just consumers.

He also advised them not to consume the seeds of any projects and schemes but to multiply benefits through these schemes, adding that the Naga community often seeks subsidies and neglects to implement projects.

Addressing youth unemployment in the village, he urged students not to remain idle after completing their education but to pursue skill training to become employable or to start their own businesses.

He further reminded the villagers to judiciously utilise the available government resources with self-governance, including water supply through the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

During the event, Dr. Zuben Kikon, Chief Medical Officer of Wokha; Mhonthung Yanthan, chairman of the Village Council Lakhuti; and members from Dimapur Lakhuti, Kohima Lakhuti, Lakhuti Officers Forum, and Lakhuti Students’ Union delivered brief speeches.

A range of agendas was discussed, covering education, roads, electricity, water, and various social developments in the village.
