TKM organises seminar on human resource development

MOKOKCHUNG — Tzurangkong Students’ Conference (TKM) on Saturday organised a seminar on human resource development, a first of its kind seminar in the border area of Nagaland and Assam, which was attended by 150 participants including youth and students.

The seminar, held on the theme “Unlocking potentials,” was aimed at tapping the human resource potential in the area and enhancing skills in the Tzurang valley, a potential hub for economic activities under Mokokchung district.

During a formal session at Government High School, Tzurangkong, AKM president, Lanutoshi Aier, stressed that ‘fear of failure, uncertainty and apprehensions often held us back from taking the leap and achieving our goals.’

He, however, expressed hope that the participants, through the seminar, would make a breakthrough their boundaries as resource persons would present clarity to identify the strength and turn the challenges into opportunities.

He also asserted that unlocking potential is a journey of self-discovery and resilience. He added that it is also about setbacks and struggles, ‘where we nurture our talents, commit ourselves to learning, adapting to change and surrounding ourselves with people who challenge us to do better.’

Stating that Tzurangkong is a land of opportunities, he encouraged the students and youth to grab the opportunities saying, “the future would not be handed to us, it is something we must actively build by unlocking our potentialities.”

The SDO (C) and Border Magistrate of Tzurangkong, Renbemo T Kithan, also stated that human resource is the most important resource of a nation. He stated that we can develop human resources by equipping the youth with necessary skills and ensure good capacity building, which would become the future asset of the state.

He also observed that there is a huge wealth of creativity and resilience of innovation to be unleashed in Nagaland and added that such seminars would play a crucial role in ensuring to unveil such potentialities in the future.

He observed that there is a deficit in quality education, meaningful practical vocational skills and lack of proper guidance when it comes to critical thinking in the context of Nagaland.

He further mentioned that approximately 1/3 of the educated youth in Nagaland are unemployed, while in regard to economy, most of the private sectors, business, enterprises are run and controlled by non-indigenous communities of the state.

In this connection, he implored the participants to listen attentively to eminent resource persons, whose input would unlock their potentialities to tap into the various aspects of human resource development. 

The resource persons of the seminar were principal of ITI Mokokchung, T Imlisunep Ao; Imotemsu Ao, DCF ICFRE-Rain Forest Research Institute, Jorhat; Dr. P Tiatemsu, associate professor of Botany at Fazl Ali College, and experts from Reserved Bank of India, Moneywise Centre for Financial Literacy, CFL Mangkolemba.

The resource persons dwelled on arrays of topics including job market and skill, innovative farming, higher education and its scopes, understanding financial literacy basics and success in civil service examinations.
