DIMAPUR — To strengthen Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003 in Tizit sub-division, the newly formed enforcement team conducted surprise raid in and around Tizit area, Mon district, on Thursday.
The team was led by Tumben P Tsanglao, SDO (Civil) Tizit, Nzanbemo Lotha, O/C Tizit Police Station and E Nyeamying Konyak, consultant, NTCP Mon, an update stated.
The other members present were head Dobashi, TASU president and police personnel.
A total of 23 defaulters were penalised under COTPA 2003 – 18 under COTPA Sec 6 (b), i.e. prohibition on sale of tobacco products near educational institutions, and five under COTPA Sec 5, i.e. prohibition on advertisement of cigarettes.
