NPF affirms stand to resolve Indo-Naga political issue

MOKOKCHUNG — In a brief yet significant programme, the Mokokchung division of Naga People’s Front (NPF) commemorated its 62nd foundation day at the party office on October 21 with a call for peace and development in the land.

The event was graced by two central vice presidents namely Lanukaba and Yangerlemba, who emphasised the party’s core values and its role in Naga society.

Lanukaba, vice president of the NPF central office, shared a brief history on the party’s formation. He reminded the gathering that the Naga People’s Front was established on the principle of non-violence with its motto ‘Fide Non Armies’ meaning ‘by faith, not arms.’

This principle, he said, was central to the party’s mission to resolve the Indo-Naga political issue and bring all-around development to the people of Nagaland.

Reflecting on the party’s journey over six decades, Lanukaba emphasised the NPF’s dedication to peace, stating that its foundation was rooted in the belief that the Indo-Naga issue could be resolved peacefully without the use of force.

He expressed optimism in the party’s continuing relevance in the region’s political landscape, particularly in its commitment to improving the lives of Nagas through meaningful development and by upholding its core principles.

Yangerlemba, also a vice president from the NPF central office, stressed the importance of supporting the ongoing peace process between the Naga political groups and the Government of India. According to him, the peace process is the key in securing a stable and prosperous future for Nagaland.

He urged the party members to stand united in this effort, underscoring the NPF’s crucial role in long-standing advocacy for peace.

The event culminated with a collective resolution from the attendees. The gathering pledged to reaffirm their commitment to the principles of the NPF.

Party members expressed their determination to uphold the party’s founding values, ensuring that its legacy of promoting peace and development remains strong in the years to come.
