3rd Nagaland Drums Festival in Kohima on October 26
The third Nagaland Drums Festival presented by Vivezza Music Studio and supported by Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), will be held on October 26 at the State Academy Hall, Kohima.
According to an update, the integral part of the festival will be the finals of the national level drums competition. Eleven drummers from across the country registered for the preliminary round, out of which five drummers were selected for the finals.
RSL examiners Tim Moore and David Hawthorne, along with RSL country director Arup Gohain, will also attend the event.
RSL Awards, an international examination board based in London, has been accrediting drums students in Nagaland for the past 12 years and has till date certified around 1500 drums students ranging from Debut to Grade 8.
The event will wind up with a concert; the line up includes accomplished drummers as well as outstanding up and coming drummers.
Lopeno Ovung Queah, who initiated the Nagaland Drums Festival in 2022 and is also the festival director, informed that the entry to the festival is free. She also extended invitation to the music fraternity and the public to attend the festival.
Queah expressed gratitude to TaFMA for their invaluable and constant support, Galaxy Digital, Gretex, RSL India, and Dr. Naresh Jain for sponsoring cymbals, drums heads and drums accessories, to be given out as prizes to the winners of the third Nagaland Drums Festival drums competition.
