MOKOKCHUNG — The 6th anniversary Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY) and the 2nd anniversary of the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) were held at the conference hall of Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) in Mokokchung on October 7.

The celebration underscored the success of both AB-PMJAY and CMHIS in ensuring affordable healthcare and making a substantial difference in the lives of vulnerable communities.

Delivering the keynote address, the chief medical officer (CMO) of Mokokchung, Dr. Kibangkumba, emphasised the significance of AB-PMJAY and CMHIS, which according to him, is the largest health insurance schemes in the country.

He highlighted that underprivileged families across India are the primary beneficiaries, receiving essential healthcare services at no cost and significantly improving health outcomes.

Takotemjen Longkumer, LDA-cum-BIS operator from the CMO office, provided a detailed overview of AB-PMJAY, explaining that it offers health insurance coverage of up to INR 5 lakh per family per year.

The scheme specifically targets the vulnerable population including the unemployed and economically weaker sections, ensuring that they have access to quality healthcare.

He also shed light on the impact of the scheme in the Mokokchung district, where thousands of lives have been positively affected.

Additionally, Longkumer highlighted the differences in benefits between the general category and government employees/pensioners under both the AB-PMJAY and CMHIS.

The programme also featured a felicitation ceremony, where the assistant commissioner of Mokokchung, S Jain, who was the special guest, presented an award to Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) for being the best-performing hospital in Mokokchung.

In addition, the top three winners of an essay writing competition were awarded during the event.

The event concluded with a free medical camp, wherein the participants were provided medicines without any charge.
