Assam Rifles creates awareness on waste recycling

DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles conducted public awareness programmes on waste recycling on Monday at Kiyeto village and Phaipijang village in Dimapur.

According to an update, the events saw the participation of around 60 villagers and 40 Assam Rifles personnel.

They were organised to promote recycling initiatives, which are crucial for achieving sustainable development, and to instill knowledge on adopting effective strategies that result in waste reduction, resource conservation, and climate change mitigation.

The objectives of the awareness programmes were also to educate the locals about different recycling initiatives, such as curbside recycling programmes, deposit refund systems, and community composting.

Meanwhile, Assam Rifles supported the Samzuiram Youth Organisation in organising the Annual Inter-Block Football Tournament, which commenced on Monday at Samzuiram village, Peren, and will conclude on October 15.

Sixty teams from nearby villages are participating in the tournament.
