Nagaland achieves 92% tap water coverage under Jal Jeevan Mission

DIMAPUR — Nagaland has a total of 3,63,461 households, of which 3,35,212 (92.23%), according to government data, have tap water supply coverage.

As per the Jal Jeevan Mission—Har Ghar Jal report, Kiphire district has reported a 100% household tap water supply, consisting of 14,991 households across 109 villages. Of these villages, 100 have been certified (91.74%) as of October 7, 2024.

According to the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Tseminyu district has a total of 12,160 households, out of which 11,892 (97.80%) are connected with tap water supply. Shamator has a total of 7,582 households, with 7,364 (97.13%) connected with tap water supply. Mon has 56,023 households, of which 53,708 (95.87%) are connected with tap water supply.

Noklak consists of 12,514 households, out of which 11,828 (94.52%) households are connected with tap water supply and Phek consists of 32,547 households, out of which 30,743 (94.46%) are connected with tap water supply.

Zunheboto has a total of 33,089 households, of which 30,343 (91.70%) are connected to tap water supply. Longleng is comprised of 11,926 households, of which 11,104 (93.11%) are connected to Tap water supply.

Wokha comprises 24,913 households, with 22,754 (91.33%) connected to tap water supply. Chümoukedima has 9,776 households, of which 8,920 (91.24%) are connected to tap water supply.

In Niuland, there are 9,523 households, of which 8,652 (90.85%) are connected to a tap water supply. Tap water is available to 17,524 households (89.78%) in Peren, which has a total of 19,520 households.

Of the 15,266 households in Tuensang, 13,695 (89.71%) are connected to the tap water supply, while 34,071 (89.56%) of the 38,044 households in Mokokchung are connected to the tap water supply.

Kohima comprises 29,482 households, with 26,114 (88.58%) connected to the tap water supply. Dimapur consists of 36,105 households, of which 31,509 (87.27%) are connected to the tap water supply.

It is being claimed that as of October 6, 2024, the Jal Jeevan Mission has successfully provided tap water connections to 11.95 crore additional rural households, raising the total coverage to over 15.19 crore households. This accounts for 78.58% of all rural households in India.
