DIMAPUR — The orientation programme for second batch students selected to undergo coaching and sponsored by Yopikyu Thongtsar Memorial Trust (YTMT) was held on October 5 at 2K Hotel in Officers’ Hill, Kohima.

Delivering the welcome address, Theose Thongtsar, chairman of YTMT and officer on special duty (OSD), said they are providing opportunity to enhance capacity for various competitive exams and stated that the outcome would depend on the hand work, perseverance and determination of the aspirants.

He challenged the students to give their utmost efforts as only best among them would come out successfully in this cut-throat competitive world.

He further mentioned that YTMT had sponsored 40 students in the first batch and 53 (technical-9 and general-44) students in the second batch.

In his keynote address, Selichum Thongtsar, Trustee and joint secretary of Works and Housing department, highlighted that YTMT was established in memory of his father Lt. Yopikyu, who studied in Mokokchung and was among the first educationist from the Sangtam community.

Lt. Yopikyu served as school teacher and became a school inspector. Later, joined politics in 1974 and was elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 1977, 1982 and 1987.

Thongtsar stated that YTMT was formed to provide opportunity for students of Kiphire district especially from poor families who cannot afford to pay fees but committed to achieve their dreams. He urged the students to be committed to achieve their goal.

Shadrak, SDO of PWD (H) and from Vega Coaching Institute, informed that the institute has young and well qualified faculty including five SDO and one SA. He has assured to guide, mentor and help the aspirants achieve their dreams.

Therlii Ovung, proprietor of Intensive Coaching and Computer Institute, Kohima, stated that it is government registered institute. Ovung stated that the institute has produced numerous successful candidates and would continue to give their best.

Atoka Z Awomi, human resource manager of Prep School for civil services, stated that the institute gives affordable fee structure and has accomplished great results.

Sethrichumla Sangtam delivered a short speech on behalf of students, wherein she thanked the trust for sponsoring them. She further motivated her fellow aspirants to work hard with commitment, dedication and determination.

Rev. Thsadong, pastor of Sangtam Baptist Lithro Kohima, said a prayer for the students and Likhumse Thongtsar, trustee and section officer of Finance department, delivered the vote of thanks.
