GHS in Kohima hosts innovative skill development programme

DIMAPUR — Government High School (GHS) at PWD Colony in Kohima organised an innovative skill development programme at the school premises on the theme ‘Moulding young minds towards innovative skill development’ on October 3.

Delivering the keynote address, the assistant headmistress of the school, Neizokhoü Vizo, said that the event was organised by the school authority with an aim to promote and enhance the problem solving skills among the students community, a DIPR report stated.

Vizo stated that the event was aimed at imparting the idea and knowledge of productivity, sustainability and entrepreneurship in the minds of the students.

In the exhibition-cum-sales session, the special guest and councilor of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), Neibodzeiie Solo, reminded the students of the inborn skills of their ancestors and urged them to embrace their innate potentials and talents and exhibit them to the fullest.

He also encouraged the students to be self-confident and learn both traditional skills and modern technology in order to keep abreast with development taking place in the modern era especially in the job market.

The day-long programme was the first of its kind organised by the school, where all the students from classes A to 10 along with the teachers engaged in skill development activities.

The day’s activities included basket-making, pickle, organic fruit juice, LED bulb, envelope and paper bag-making, bamboo crafts, knitting, baking, bookmark, art and facial etc.

The programme was attended by members from school development and management committee (SDMC), parents, chairman and members from Upper PWD Panchayat and representatives from the colony’s women and youth organisations.
