KOHIMA — The youth exchange-cum-exposure programme between Nagaland and Meghalaya, hosted by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland, culminated on Thursday evening at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) in Kohima.

The programme, which began on October 1 with an opening ceremony, was followed by a cultural exchange programme, interactions between youth from both states concluded the day with a culinary workshop on Naga indigenous cuisines.

On October 2, the participants were taken on a trip to Mt. Pulie Badze, followed by shopping in the state capital, Kohima.

On the last day, the delegates visited the Kohima War Cemetery and proceeded to the state museum to immerse themselves in culture and traditions, besides a tour to Raj Bhavan.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the youth resources officer (YRO), Chubarenla Longchari, asserted that one of the key aspects of youth exchange and exposure programmes was the promotion of cross-cultural understanding. She emphasised that it is essential for young people to have a deep appreciation and understanding of different cultures, languages and ways of life.

Longchari was of the opinion that by participating in exchange programmes, youth could develop empathy, tolerance and appreciate diversity, which are essential qualities in today’s globalised world.

She added that during the programme, participants have witnessed the power of youth coming together, breaking barriers and building bridges of friendship and understanding.

Longchari stated that the youth exchange programme was not only a platform for cultural exchange but also a learning experience that sparked creativity, innovation and personal growth among the young participants. She said the participants have gained new insights, broadened their horizons and forged lasting bonds that would undoubtedly shape their futures in a positive and meaningful way.

The official also stated that the outcome has reminded everyone of the immense potential that lies within the youth—the future leaders, innovators and change-makers of the society.

She expressed optimism that the shared experiences and memories would serve as a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two states.

She further encouraged the young participants to carry forward the spirit of the youth exchange programme in their hearts and minds, continue building bridges, breaking barriers and striving for excellence in everything they do.
