Inter-departmental sports tournament kicks off in Mokokchung

DIMAPUR — The second edition of inter-departmental sports tournament 2024, Mokokchung district kicked off at Multi Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Thursday.

Delivering the welcome address, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji said that such an event brings together employees from different departments, irrespective of their designations, creating an atmosphere to interact in a casual setting.

The DC urged the participants to take the opportunity to forge friendship so that better coordination can be maintained amongst the departments for the betterment of the district.

Highlights of the programme included greetings from vice president of Ao Senden, Aowati Ozukum; presentation of special song by Fazl Ali college students; handing over the Championship Trophy to the organiser by the District Executive Force, the champions of the first inter-departmental sports tournament 2023.

Oath taking of the participating teams was led by Anguvito Sumi, District Sport Officer and secretary of organising committee.

The inaugural programme was chaired by Imyapangla, Project Director, DRDA, Mokokchung, while invocation was pronounced by Fr. Sajimon, Principal of Queen Mary Hr. Sec. School, Mokokchung.

The three-day event will feature competition in the following sports disciplines – table tennis, carom, arm wrestling, chess and badminton.
