Enumeration exercise for specific communities in Kohima
DIMAPUR — DC Kohima Kumar Ramnikant has notified that an enumeration exercise will be conducted for the people and their direct descendants from the Garo, Kuki, Kachari, Mikir (Karbi), and Nepali/Gorkhas settled in Kohima district for the issuance of IIC/PRC.
It will encompass the Garo, Kuki, Kachari, and Mikir (Karbi) communities settled in the state of Nagaland prior to December 1, 1963, and the Nepali/Gorkhas settled in the state prior to December 31, 1940.
The notification mentioned that the enumeration will be conducted by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, at the village/town levels using a prescribed proforma.
The enumeration sheet must be countersigned by the village council chairman/municipal council chairman (as applicable), the concerned village gaon bura, area administrative officer, chairman/president/representative of the Garo, Kachari, Kuki, Mikir (Karbi), and Nepali/Gorkhas (as applicable), and the deputy commissioner of the district.
All copies of the final enumeration sheets shall be submitted to the Home department through the Commissioner of Nagaland, and these will be further placed before the Cabinet for decision.
The schedule for the enumeration exercise is as follows:
Issue of notification: October 1, 2024
Training of charge officers, supervisors, and enumerators: October 18, 2024, to October 31, 2024
Enumeration exercise: November 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025
Publication of draft list: February 15, 2025
Invitation period for claims and objections: February 17, 2025, to March 17, 2025
Disposal of claims and objections: March 18, 2025, to April 21, 2025
Final publication of the list of enumeration: May 6, 2025
