DIMAPUR — Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU), in a letter to the district education officer, Kiphire, has lamented the lack of teachers at Seyochung Village Government High School.

The union, in the letter, mentioned the “dire situation faced by the students” of the school “due to the absence of key teaching staff” and stated that the school currently has no headmaster to oversee the administration and academic activities.

In addition to the absence of designated Science and Mathematics teachers, which severely impacts the education of the students, especially those in high school, the union reported that there is only one Hindi teacher, and that too only for the primary section, leaving the higher classes without proper language instruction.

“This shortage of teachers has already led to a concerning situation where a student was compelled to transfer to another school, as there was no teacher available for their academic requirements in high school,” read the letter, adding that the union fears that this situation may worsen if immediate action is not taken, affecting the education and future of many more students in the village.

The union requested the office to look into the matter and take prompt action to appoint the necessary teachers, including a headmaster, Science and Mathematics teachers, and Hindi teachers for both the primary and high school sections.
