Lotha officers challenged to introspect, contribute to society

DIMAPUR — The annual conference-cum-get-together of the Lotha Officers Association (LOA) was held on Saturday at Angh Hall, Agri Expo, 4th Mile, Chümoukedima.

Principal Secretary of the Government of Nagaland, E M Patton, attended the conference as the special guest and exhorted the officers never to underestimate others.

He stated that, according to an update, reaching the top should not lead one to underestimating others, as a service career can be unpredictable with twists and turns.

He further urged them to work hard, pray, and believe in God Almighty. Emphasising the importance of relationships and networking, he asserted that building strong connections is a valuable investment.

Patton also launched the second edition of the LOA’s history booklet.

Dr. M L Ngullie, retired principal, urged the gathering of officers to invent new ideas and implement them to avoid becoming obsolete. He further advised them to stay updated to keep pace with changing times.

N Izamo Yanthan, Superintending Engineer of All India Radio and Doordarshan (CCW) Kolkata, who also spoke at the conference, challenged the officers to be change-makers in their respective postings with their valuable contributions.

Stressing the importance of participation, Yanthan encouraged them to engage both physically and financially in their communities, not for personal gain but for the welfare and betterment of society.

Nongothung Jungio, Director of Income Tax at the Ministry of Finance, opined that change is the driving force behind innovation and noted that resistance to change will lead to falling behind. He added that to stay relevant in this ever-changing world, the taxation department is keeping pace with the digital revolution.

Renchamo P Kikon, Additional DGP (Administration) of Nagaland, who also spoke during the conference, challenged the officers to introspect whether their performance contributes to safeguarding the larger interests of society. He reminded them to constantly re-evaluate the correlation between their performance and purpose.

Earlier, in his welcome address, K Libanthung Lotha, president of the LOA, reminded the officers that the responsibilities entrusted to them must be fulfilled to yield benefits for future generations.
