Social Welfare department organises cooking competition in Wokha
DIMAPUR — In commemoration of Poshan Maah, a cooking competition was organised by the Department of Social Welfare, Wokha, in collaboration with the Police Family Welfare, District Executive Force (DEF), Wokha, on Saturday at the police reserve, Wokha.
The district programme officer (DWO), C James Ezung, while briefing the participants on the occasion, said that September marks Poshan Maah, a nationwide celebration dedicated to promoting nutrition awareness and driving action towards building a healthier society.
The senior supervisor, Erenbeni Kikon, who also spoke during the function, emphasised the nutritional needs of adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children from 0 to 6 years of age, with the aim of improving key nutrition for both children and women.
The superintendent of police, Wokha, Aotula T Imchen, thanked the Department of Social Welfare for providing a platform for the DEF Police Family Welfare to participate in the event, allowing them to learn the importance of nutrition.
She also lauded the department for all the logistical support and for sponsoring the prizes for the competition.
Altogether, 13 participants took part in the cooking competition. Nzubeni Kinghen (Changpang police station) was adjudged the winner, while Chumbeno and Bideno (Women PS) and Zuthungbeni Sangtam (Bhandari PS) were declared the first and second runners-up, respectively.
The cash awards were handed over by the superintendent of police, Wokha.
