Four projects worth INR 376 crore currently underway in Nagaland
DIMAPUR — Four projects worth INR 376.87 crore are currently underway in Nagaland under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE), as per the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region’s dashboard as on August 31, 2024.
The four projects included “Livelihood projects for special development of eastern Nagaland” under the Agriculture and Allied sector, sanctioned by the central government on March 23, 2023, with a budget of INR 180 crore. The project is scheduled for completion by December 7, 2025.
Report stated that a total of INR 25.59 crore has been utilised as of August 2024.
Another project, sanctioned on February 2, 2024, worth INR 132.37 crore is for the construction of a 220/132 kV (2×100 MVA) and 132/33 kV (2×50 MVA) sub-station at Tsitrongse-Dimapur along with associated lines in Nagaland under the power sector.
While this project is scheduled for completion by August 8, 2026, a total of INR 33.09 crore has been utilised as of August 2024.
The third project under the PM-DevINE scheme is for educational infrastructure/ facility development in polytechnics in Nagaland under the education sector. A total of INR 30 crore was sanctioned for this project on June 13, 2024, which is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2026.
The fourth project under the PM-DevINE scheme is for the upgrade of the radiation oncology centre at CIHSR in Nagaland, which was sanctioned on June 13, 2024, with a budget of INR 34.5 crore and the project is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2027.
The Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE), was announced as a new central sector scheme with 100% central funding in the Union Budget 2022-23 and approved by the Union Cabinet on October 12, 2022, with a total outlay of INR 6, 600 crore for the 4-year period from 2022-23 to 2025-26.
The objectives of PM-DevINE scheme are to fund infrastructure convergently in the spirit of PM GatiShakti, support social development projects based on felt needs of the NER, enable livelihood activities for youth and women and fill the development gaps in various sectors.
