DIPHU — Karbi Anglong Morning Football Club (KAMS FC), representing Assam in the prestigious I-League 3, faced a disappointing start to their first playoff campaign, losing 1-4 to Diamond Harbour Football Club (DHFC) of West Bengal at Naihati Playground on Thursday.

In the first half, DHFC’s Aimar Adam opened the scoring in the 25th minute, giving his team a 1-0 lead at halftime, while the second half saw Naro Hari double their advantage in the 49th minute.

KAMS FC’s Kevisanyu Penseyie, who came on as a second-half substitute, scored with a header in the 73rd minute, assisted by Cleaven Hmarramnghak, making it 2-1; however, Aimar Adam sealed the win for DHFC with goals in the 76th and 82nd minutes, securing a convincing 4-1 victory.

KAMS FC’s manager Waisong Bey said after the match that it was a challenging encounter, as DHFC is one of the strongest teams in West Bengal, but the blue giant boys played well until the middle of the match.

Bey stated that missing the services of key player Singdoulien Khongsai due to injury proved to be a significant setback, while match statistics revealed a closely contested game, with DHFC holding 54% possession compared to KAMS FC’s 46%.

KAMS FC will lock horns with SESA Football Academy on September 28 at 3 pm at Naihati Stadium in Kolkata.
