Members of Tuensang District Pharmacists’ Union on the occasion of World Pharmacist Day in Tuensang town on Wednesday.

DIMAPUR — Tuensang District Pharmacists’ Union (TDPU) on Wednesday observed World Pharmacists Day at the conference hall of the medical superintendent, District Hospital, Tuensang, on the theme “Meeting global health needs.”

World Pharmacists Day is observed globally on September 25 every year since 2009. The day is observed to promote awareness of pharmacist contributions to ensure the medication safety, improve the health and, most importantly, providing patient care.

On the occasion, retired senior pharmacists namely Amos Lotha and Lanukaba highlighted about the profession related responsibilities, role of pharmacists and also encouraged them to be alert and competent. They also clarified the confusion between the pharmacist and pharmacy.

The programme was chaired by pharmacist, Khoanyam Konyak, while an invocation prayer was said by Imtikhumla and welcome address was delivered by president of TDPU, T Hosea Meya.

A song was presented by Chubalemla and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Imtilemla, pharmacist.
