Kiphire District Cricket Association celebrates silver jubilee
KIPHIRE — The Kiphire District Cricket Association (KDCA) marked its silver jubilee with cricket matches and a formal programme at the public ground in Kiphire on Tuesday.
In the first match, Saramati Nexus scored 158 runs for the loss of nine wickets, while Kiphire Super Kings were all out for 80 runs.
In the second match, Kiphire Knight Riders claimed victory by scoring 151 runs for the loss of seven wickets, successfully defending their score against Abide Club, who managed 149 runs for the loss of nine wickets.
In his welcome address, Justin Khatomong, president of KDCA, expressed gratitude to all pioneers and officials who contributed to KDCA’s success. He provided a brief history of the association and its accomplishments over the last 25 years.
The keynote speaker, Takatemjen Pongen, EAC Kiphire HQ, emphasised the role of cricket in uniting people and fostering values such as discipline and teamwork.
He urged the development of sports infrastructure and greater inclusivity, calling for more opportunities for youth, women, and people with disabilities.
