DIMAPUR — The Kithaga Union Baptist Church from Tseminyu won the first prize of the Patkai Christian College (PCC) golden jubilee choral competition held at Bundrock auditorium on September 21 on the theme “Many colours paint the rainbow.”
Bethel Baptist Church secured the second prize and Chakhesang Baptist Church from Diphupar ‘B’ secured the third prize.
An update from the college stated that Kithaga Union Baptist Church, Tseminyu, was awarded cash prize of INR 1,25000 and a certificate of appreciation, while the Bethel Baptist Church was awarded cash prize of INR 1,00,000 and certificate award and Chakhesang Baptist Church, Diphupar ‘B’ was award cash prize of INR 75,000 and a certificate award.
Additionally, the conductor of Oriental Theological Seminary, Thujoi Rhakho, was awarded the best conductor with cash prize of INR 20,000 and a certificate.
The prizes were given away by Abu Metha and Theja Meru.
The choral competition was organised by Patkai Christian College, in collaboration with Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA).
The judges of the competition were Hito Kiho, Pfotokho Kayina and Vimezo Iralu.
The advisor to the chief minister of Nagaland and honoured guest, Abu Metha, has called upon the youth to ‘tell new stories; stories of success and excellence’ saying that Nagas have been known for violence and turmoil for too long.
“Every individual has the capacity to make an impact and change the world.
As long as you put in the hard work, the commitment, there is no reason why you cannot achieve what you have aspired, there’s no reason why dreams cannot come true,” Metha said.
He stated that the world must know Nagaland for celebrating good things. For this to take place, he called upon the Nagas to unite and come together as one.
He further announced that the top three winners would be given the opportunity to perform at the Hornbill Festival, 2024.
The event also featured a special musical performance by The Nagaland Madrigal Singers.
It mentioned that seven choirs groups have participated in the competition.
The committee also announced that the winner would perform at the grand finale of Patkai golden jubilee on November 2.
