Shamator celebrates International Literacy Day

DIMAPUR — Shamator district celebrated ‘International Literacy Day’ on September 14 on the theme “Promoting multilingual education: Literacy for mutual understanding and peace” with the deputy commissioner of Shamator, Chubatemjen, as the special guest.

Speaking at the programme, the special guest encouraged the girl students to avail various benefits under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) schemes.

Delivering the keynote address, the EAC of Shamator headquarters, Kudazo Swuro, spoke on the purpose and objectives of BBBP, while Newkai, PGT at GHSS Shamator and the theme speaker, spoke on the importance of ‘Girl child education.’

The report stated Dorila Y of class-12, Lumzancha Z of class-11 and Luntsula Geneve of class-11 secured first, second and third prizes respectively in the speech competition. The winners were awarded with certificates and cash prizes.

The SDO (C) of Shamator, Athrong, while lunching the adolescent Girls’ Club at GHSS Shamator, highlighted the various activities to be undertaken under BBBP.
