Zunheboto inter-departmental tournament kicks off

DIMAPUR — The 11th inter-departmental tournament for Zunheboto district, organised by the District Sports Council, Zunheboto, and the district administration, commenced in Zunheboto on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, who was the special guest at the inaugural programme, encouraged all participants to demonstrate the highest spirit of sportsmanship, according to an update.

He lauded the efforts of the organising committee and all the departments of the district for the grand opening of the tournament and said the event is also a rare gathering for all government employees.

The DC also hoisted the tournament flag and declared the tournament open.

The inaugural programme was chaired by ADC Zunheboto and tournament convenor Keyirangding Hegui, while DSCZ member Zhekugha Assumi delivered the welcome address. DPO and DSCZ member David Sema administered the oath of the tournament.

The inter-departmental tournament includes badminton, carrom, chess, and penalty shootout, featuring 367 participants from 43 departments.
