DIMAPUR — The people of Nkialwa village have come out in support of the Zeliang Students’ Union’s (ZLSU) ultimatum to the Department of School Education (DoSE) and expressed their objection to the transfer of Mathematics and Science teachers without replacement from Government Middle School (GMS) Nkialwa following the rationalisation.
In a joint press statement issued by the Nkialwa Village Council, the School Management Committee of GMS Nkialwa, and Nkialwa Heseiname Bau, they stated that this ill-considered decision will have far-reaching and devastating consequences on the academic performance and future prospects of the students.

Stating that while they understand the intention behind the rationalisation process is to optimise teaching staff and resources, they said that the random transfer of Mathematics and Science teachers without understanding the ground reality could have detrimental effects on both the students and the academic environment of the school, which has the second-highest student enrolment among government schools in the Tening sub-division.
Calling it “academic cruelty” that undermines the ability of the student community to acquire quality education, the stakeholders maintained that the transfers will reduce the quality of education and the overall performance of the school.
They, therefore, urged the concerned authority to reconsider the decision and explore alternative measures that could achieve the goals of rationalisation without compromising the quality of education the students receive.
They stated that if the concerned authority fails to reconsider its decision, it will be viewed as “discrimination” against the student community, condemning them to subpar education and limiting future opportunities.
