Hekani highlights Nagaland potentials at ministers’ conference

DIMAPUR — The advisor of Industries and Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu, has highlighted that Nagaland, like the rest of the northeastern states, has many challenges but is working hard to contribute towards India’s growth story.

The advisor stated this during the conference of Commerce and Industries ministers held at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, Delhi, on September 5. Hekani, who represented Nagaland, stated that Nagaland is primarily an agrarian economy but is taking baby steps towards industrialisation, with key sectors being tourism, food processing and micro-enterprises.

She also emphasised that the northeast is the gateway to ASEAN and that a developed northeast would be India’s strength, an update from the Industries and Commerce department stated.

It mentioned that the conference was chaired by Union Minister, Piyush Goyal, along with Union Minister of State, Jitin Prasada.

The focus of the conference was on strengthening centre-state collaboration to foster a dynamic business ecosystem and drive job creation.

Minister Goyal emphasised the importance of a single window system for ease of doing business and urged all states and union territories to work together to attract global investments.

Meanwhile, Jitin Prasada underscored the significance of centre-state cooperation to build a robust economic framework across India.
