DIMAPUR — Perturbed by the unchecked influx of illegal immigrants into the state, the Chakhro Angami Kuda Students’ Union (CAKSU) has shared the concern of Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) regarding the effective implementation of inner line permit (ILP) in the state, particularly in Dimapur district.
CAKSU strongly condemned the intimidation and threats directed at DNSU in opposition to their efforts in data collection on ILP. It also extended its full support to the DNSU.
“The ILP issue is crucial for the protection of our rights and identity, and CAKSU remains fully committed to addressing it with sincerity. The work being done by DNSU benefits all Nagas, and any attempt to jeopardise Naga identity and Naga interests will not be tolerated,” CAKSU said.
To all those, who are deliberately trying to threaten and derail the collective efforts of the DNSU and its units towards the implementation of ILP within Dimapur, CAKSU made it known that they would not be intimidated by narrow mindset in pursuit of selfish gain.
“We will not hold back in fighting for our rights and in preserving our cultural identity,” CAKSU affirmed.
Meanwhile, CAKSU has called upon all right-thinking citizens to come together and ensure that the ILP implementation moves forward smoothly, without fear or intimidation. It added that the influx of illegal immigrants is a collective issue, which required collective effort.
In a separate statement, the Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union (DRSU) has vehemently condemned the recent obstruction and threats received by the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) in their initiative to collect data of non-Naga residents in Dimapur for the ILP process.
It has extended unwavering support to DNSU in their efforts to gather necessary data to ensure proper implementation of the ILP regulations.
“The ILP system is a significant measure designed to regulate and monitor the influx of non-Naga residents into Dimapur, thereby safeguarding the interests and cultural integrity of the Naga people,” DRSU said.
DRSU stated that the actions aimed at obstructing DNSU’s efforts not only undermined the legal framework but also pose a threat to the community’s safety and security. It has termed acts of intimidation and interference as unacceptable and contrary to the principles of democratic engagement and dialogue.
DRSU reiterated its solidarity with the DNSU and demandrf an immediate cessation of all obstructive actions and threats. It also urged the relevant authorities to take appropriate measures to ensure a safe and conducive environment for DNSU to carry out their data collection activities effectively.
It further warned those responsible for the obstruction and threats that their actions would not be tolerated and be confronted with collective action by the wider Naga community.
