Nagaland Pencak Silat Association felicitates YRS awardees
DIMAPUR — The Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) felicitated 26 athletes of the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association (NPSA) with cash awards on National Sports Day held at IG Stadium, Kohima, on August 29.
In a press release, the NPSA stated that the 26 athletes won a total of 65 medals in five different Pencak Silat regional and national championships during 2023-2024.
On September 1, the association also held a special programme at its headquarters to felicitate the meritorious athletes who were recognised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports.
The event was attended by H Khehovi Yepthomi, former MLA and chief patron of the NPSA as the special guest. Officials of association, parents and well-wishers were also present to celebrate the athletes’ achievements.
In his address, Yepthomi expressed his gratitude to the chief minister of Nagaland, advisor of YRS and director of YRS for acknowledging the achievements of Pencak Silat athletes and providing support through cash awards.

Stating that the gesture would serve as a great source of encouragement to athletes, he also appreciated the department’s efforts in motivating young talents and promoting the development of Pencak Silat in Nagaland.
Yepthomi further said that the department’s role in investing in youths by fostering a positive sports culture, which builds discipline and dedication, is commendable.
The meritorious athletes are Liike Kibami, Kitenlo K Thono, Avikali V Sheqi, Kevin, Hinokali, Hatneinem Khongsai, Jon, Tiayanger Imsong, Chithuyio Kajisho, Edwina Lhinghoithem Hanghal, A Vipu Assumi, Tsemthak Konyak, Akhumse Sangtam, Nipavito Rengma, Vikapu Yepthomi, Altab uddin Choudhury, Dipraj Paswan, Aahan Debnath, Anuska Adhikari, Puloka Achumi, Imnatoshi Longkumer, Niepuleno Suokhrie, Dausanliu Rentta, Rahul Kumar Ray, Anshuman Adhikari and Ashish Kumar Ray.
