DIMAPUR — The Chessore Town Students’ Union (CTSU) has appealed to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Advisor for School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome and the Director of School Education, for immediate posting of teachers against all retired and transferred teachers at Government High School, Chessore.

In a press release, the CTSU informed that the union visited the high school on August 30 and interacted with the school’s assistant headmaster, RK Singh, to know about the latest position of the school.

As per the union’s findings, RP Prasad, science teacher was promoted to JEO on October 12, 2015; SM Rujjaman, maths teacher took voluntary (URS) pension on August 12, 2015; LB Ussuk, science teacher, was transferred to Thangjem, Tuensang, and L Mükamchim, headmaster promoted to SDEO, Shamator.

However, no new teachers have been deployed till date to fill the vacant posts, it stated.

Pointing out that the school produced zero pass percentage in the HSLC exam for many years, the union said that the reasons was because the school did not have maths and science teachers since 2015.

The union also informed that since 2016, the CTSU and Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA), followed by Chessore Area Public Forum (CAPF) in 2021, wrote several representations to the concerned department to address the issue.

It went on to mention that the future of the “downtrodden section of our school children” has been put at stake due to absence of two important subject teachers at GHS Chessore for nearly a decade.

Urging immediate intervention of the chief minister, advisor of School Education and the concerned department, the union cautioned that in case of failure to address the issues, the CTSU would be compelled to “voice out for the poor students” and that the concerned authorities in the Education directorate would be held responsible.
