NU-KVK conducts input distribution programme
DIMAPUR — Nagaland University, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (NU-KVK), Zunheboto, conducted an input distribution programme on August 27 under the NABARD sponsored project ‘Promoting sustainable livelihood and nutritional security of women SHGs through low-cost egg incubator and backyard poultry production’ under Akuluto block in Zunheboto district.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, principal scientist and head of the project, spoke on the aims and objectives of the programme and requested the farmers to take the programme on self-sustenance and quality chick production seriously, an update stated. He thanked the NABARD, Dimapur, for approving this programme in Zunheboto district.
The chief guest of the programme, Dr. Abemo, Registrar of Nagaland University, appreciated the efforts taken up by the KVK to introduce new poultry bird with good production potentials. He encouraged the farmers to learn the basic techniques involved in poultry farming and stressed on inclusion of locally available feeds to reduce the feeding cost and improve meat quality.
Later, the chief guest also handed over the chicks, feeds, feeders, drinkers and poultry medicines to the women SHG members of Alaphumi and Shichimi villages, the beneficiaries under the programme.
