Patton updates on high profile criminal cases

DIMAPUR — Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Yanthungo Patton, informed that three persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of New Market GB, Abdul Gayum Talukdar, on June 7 and forwarded to judicial custody adding that the case is under active investigation.

He stated this while replying to an unstarred question raised by MLA Kuzholuzo Neinu during the fifth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly in Kohima on Thursday.

On the status of the alleged drug kingpn, Bahar Uddin, Patton replied that the alleged drug kingpin was arrested on March 21, 2024, and a special investigation team was constituted for investigation. He added that the accused person is detained under PIT NDPS Act 1988.

To another unstarred question raised by Neinu in regard to MGNREGA in Nagaland, the minister of Rural Development and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir, replied that there are 471818 job card holders registered in the state and the daily wage under MGNREGA is INR 234.

Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, in a reply to an unstarred question raised by Neinu, stated that Nagaland has its own state sports policy and that the objectives of the policy are being implemented in the state.

He mentioned that football, table tennis, Badminton, athletics, archery, wrestling, boxing, sepakthakraw, taekwondo and cricket would be taken up on topmost priority by the state sports council.

He added that the list of discipline to be given priority could be changed from time to time after appropriate deliberation by the sports department and the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA).
