DIMAPUR — The Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has condemned the “heinous physical assault” on Rhanlamo Kikon, pastor of Yanpha Village Baptist Church, at gunpoint by Akhekivi, a cadre of NSCN-K (Khango), at Naukhuti town on August 24.
“This brutal act of violence underscores the urgent need to address lawlessness and impunity. We demand robust action, with exemplary punishment for the perpetrator, to uphold justice and maintain social order,” the WSH stated in a condemnation note.
WSH also appreciated the NSCN (Khango) for the prompt action in apprehending the culprit and handing him over to the authorities, as well as Kiyevi ‘B’ village’s decision to outcast the accused.

“Let us unite in our resolve to eradicate this culture of violence and intimidation, recognising that criminality knows no boundaries. We share a collective responsibility to bring perpetrators to justice, upholding the principles of harmony, dignity, and the rule of law,” the hoho added.
Meanwhile, the Ralan Area Baptist Churches Union (RABCU) also expressed shock over the alleged assault and attempted murder.
In a press release, the RABCU stated that the assault had deeply hurt the pastors’ feelings and described the incident as intolerable, unrighteous, and disrespectful, reflecting broader issues within society.
The union said that it is disheartening to learn that even religious leaders are not safe in their own state. It stressed that it is high time to reflect and take a stand against the prevailing unrighteousness and hatred to save the troubled society and ensure the well-being of the people.
Furthermore, it stated that this is a disheartening moment and condemned the distressing and horrific act committed against the pastor.
