DIMAPUR — The monthly Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall on Tuesday.

According to a DIPR report, chairman of DPDB Wokha and MLA, YM Humtsoe, who presided over the meeting, welcomed the new Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Vineet Kumar.

In his maiden address, the new deputy commissioner appealed all head of offices in the district to extend support and co-operation in the course of working for the betterment of the district.

Reviewing the last meeting minute in regard to maintenance and repair of Wokha-Merapani road, which is supposed to be taken up by NHIDCL, Kumar informed the board that he will personally take up the matter with the concerned company for early execution of work and to ensure that maintenance works are carried out promptly.

The board deliberated and approved the reorganisation of administrative jurisdiction and proposal for shifting of three villages, namely Hanku, Yankeli and N Longchum from Wozhuro EAC (Hq) to SDO (C) Ralan.

In regard to status of Wokha district headquarter roads, the junior engineer of Urban Development informed that proposal and DPR have already been submitted to higher authority and that the department was awaiting sanction for carrying out maintenance and construction of the district roads.

The deputy commissioner also reminded all heads of offices and staffs to remain in their place of posting to serve the people of the district. Additionally, he informed the board members to submit agendas in advance so that fruitful discussions can be made.

Kumar also requested department of Agriculture and Horticulture to present power point presentations in the next DPDB meeting.

Further, he requested all HoDs to extend assistance in regard to the upcoming state level badminton tournament scheduled to be held in the month of October in Wokha.

To the proposal submitted by the district sports officer for construction of sports infrastructures like rostrum, gallery, retaining wall, drainage, boundary wall and multi-purpose hall at Niropen, Wokha town, the chairman assured to take up the matter with the government.

Renbomo Ezung, ADC Wokha, thanked all the head of offices in the district for the support extended in successful conduct of the Independence Day celebration. He also informed the board about the government’s notification on complete ban on the sale and use of single-use plastic items throughout Wokha district.
